But we have a global ram and gpu crisis to the point where 32 gigs of ddr5 for a laptop costs $500. Make it make sense in any way other than as an intentional crippling of the supply ala debeers and their diamonds.

It makes perfect sense. Production moved away from consumer RAM to HMB RAM which is the one sitting inside those GPUs that sit in the warehouses. RAM manufacturers don't give a flying fuck if the hardware will be used or not as long as they're paid.
Also GPUs sitting in warehouses doesn't mean that they're there because demand is fabricated. There could be there because the data centers aren't built yet.

They should be giving a fuck if those bullshit companies go bust and now they have all their fabs tooled for useless overpriced regular people won't buy.
Also at the same time as Chinese companies massively scaling the production of regular RAM.

I’ve been hearing about Chinese GPUs and Chinese RAM going mainstream for two years now. And yet I can’t find either in the European market.

Yeah, its taking some time. :P Have been hearing about some smaller RAM stick manufacturers starting to use RAM chips from chinese manufacturers - hopefully the pace will pick up.
