I personally believe that exercise is overwhelmingly beneficial and exercise every day, but there is evidence that athletes have slightly increased risk of ALS (though this may be related to something other than exercise itself, eg maybe the fields on which sports teams play have harmful chemicals, higher head injury rates, etc)

They're definitely is a point of diminishing returns and a point where it can have negative outcomes but that's on the very extreme end. I also saw recently that there's a correlation between ultra marathons and colon cancer

I once played a video game that simulated it. Notch, the creator of Minecraft, wrote a text game called Drowning in Problems. It was called a "despair simulator" and a software version of a Banksy. It gave the player a series of choices about how to live the virtual character's life.

The memorable one to me was the one that gave the character a choice to exercise, I think to go for a walk, for the first and only time in the game. I chose yes ... and the character immediately drops dead from exercise, ending the game.
